Scanga to share history of the US Army Signal Corps

Saturday, June 15 at 10am, hear from Don Scanga, who served 5 years in the US Army. He initially trained in the Air Defense Artillery and served with a HAWK Missile Battery, Key West Florida. He later reenlisted and attended school at the Signal Corps School and then served three years in Germany as a computer repair specialist. His talk is titled “TALKING FLAGS – A History of the US Army Signal Corps.” This will be a new electronic book authored by Don which will be released shortly.

Josh Ingram, is student at Front Range Community College, who is currently studying History and looking to continue studies in Russian History. He is a new volunteer at the Veterans Museum and mostly works in the archives. His talk is based on his paper that will be published titled “The Unraveling,” a retelling of the fall of the Soviet Union and specifically to answer the question, ‘If Gorbachev had more time could he reform the USSR?’ Be there at 10am at the Museum to catch this talk.

Eleanor Roosevelt to appear at the Veterans Museum

On May 11 at 10am Colleen Sawyer will tell the story of Eleanor Roosevelt, one of the most influential women of the 20th century. Colleen is a Broomfield hidden treasure and longtime community volunteer. She won the Heart of Broomfield Arts Award in 2009. Her Letters of World War II project won first place in the First Annual History Conference. She also won second place at the Front Range History Conference for her paper on Women Spies in WWI.

Whitlock to present on Nazi massacre at Oradour sur Glane during WWII

Join us on April 13 at 10am, when Flint Whitlock will give a special presentation about the Nazi massacre of over 600 men, women and children of the French town, Oradour sur Glane. Flint is an award-winning author and military historian. He is a former US Army officer who served on active duty from 1965 to 1970, including a tour in Vietnam. Flint is a BVM board member and member of the Colorado Authors Hall of Fame.
